SincpacC3D General Information Command Summary Quux Software

EntityTracker

Description

The EntityTracker command displays information about entities under the cursor.

This is a palette-based command, and the EntityTracker command toggles the display of the Entity Tracker palette.

Note: Formatting has been temporarily disabled for the EntityTracker command, because it was evidently exposing a bug in Civil 3D, and would periodically cause Civil 3D to crash. We hope to have this functionality re-enabled as soon as we can find a solution or workaround for this problem.

Usage

Type EntityTracker at the command line. You will then see a display such as the following:

EntityTracker

In the above image, the cursor is hovering over a Cogo Point, a Survey Figure, and part of a TIN Surface. Information for all three items is displayed in the Entity Tracker palette. The Entity Tracker palette will remain open until you close it, either by directly closing the Palette, or by typing EntityTracker at the command line.

Notice how the Survey Figure includes both a 2D and a 3D length. Also, the "Total Vert" is the total vertical displacement over the entire length of the Survey Figure, and not the difference between start elevation and end elevation. In other words, if a Survey Figure starts at Elev=0, goes up to Elev=10, then back down to Elev=5, the "Total Vert" is 15. The "Ave Grade" is the Total Vertical, divided by the total 2D length, to come up with an average grade along the entire length of the Survey Figure.

Similarly, when hovering over Polylines, the "Segment" information is the data for the segment of the Polyline closest to the cursor.

The data for Cogo Points will also contain information about any Dynamic Links that happen to be attached to the Cogo Point. And unfortunately, while Point Group and Style information is displayed for Cogo Points that exist in the current drawing, this information currently cannot be displayed for Cogo Points that are in XREFs.

Note: For the 2008 and 2009 editions, the Entity Tracker output is not formatted. For later versions, the Entity Tracker output is formatted according to the appropriate ambient setting for each object.

Note: The Entity Tracker may return somewhat unexpected results for some Civil 3D entities such as Corridors and Surfaces, such as duplicate entries in the list for a single item. This is related to the way certain Civil 3D entities are seen by AutoCAD's core selection mechanisms.

Blue Dot DisplayAlignProf

Displays geometry and interval points along an alignment and profile, and can print the output to delimited output files (CSV, tab-delimited, etc.) or directly to a printer. May also be used to generate Cogo Points along Alignments, or display a Surface elevation at each station, along with a Cut/Fill between the Surface and Profile at each Station.

Blue Dot DisplayPoints

A Cogo Point browser, editor, and reporting tool, all rolled into one. Displays selected points in a grid, including Station and Offset, with options for editing points, adding/removing them from Point Groups, and printing them to delimited output files (CSV, tab-delimited, etc.) or directly to a printer. Also includes the ability to display a Surface elevation at each point, as well as a Cut/Fill between the Cogo Points and Profile/Surface.

Blue Dot DLPoints

Manages dynamic links between Cogo Points and other Civil-3D entities. This allows the elevations of Cogo Points to change dynamically whenever the "master" object changes. Similarly, the description may be set to display the Station/Offset of the point, and the Station/Offset will also dynamically respond to changes in the model. The "master" object may be a Surface, a Profile, an Alignment, or a linear entity such as a Feature Line, Survey Figure, Polyline, or 3D-Polyline.
