BuildPointSelectionSet

Description

The BuildPointSelectionSet command allows the user to quickly and easily build filtered selection sets of Civil Points. Designed to look and feel like the familiar Land Desktop command of the same name.

Usage

Type BuildPointSelectionSet at the command line, or from the Ribbon choose Build Pt Selection Set on the Tools panel of the Sincpac-C3D tab. The Build Point Selection Set dialog is displayed.

BuildPointSelectionSet Dialog

Along the left side are properties to be used from a selected Civil Point, once you have the desired properties checked, press the Pick button to select objects from which to obtain the desired properties. Along the right side of the dialog are buttons for different properties, picking each of these will result in a list of available items to add as a filter. You may also type in the values, separating each entry with a comma. Point numbers and Elevations may be entered individually or as a Range. A valid range is just two numbers separated by a dash: 123.45-134.56, for an elevation range, or 123-456 for a Point# range. Point Names and descriptions allow the use of the standard wildards "*" & "?". All entries which accept Text are case-sensitive, with the exception of Point Names which use lowercase characters only but you may enter them as upper or lowercase.

Points may be displayed by several controlling factors. With BuildPointSelectionSet you may select the Style & LabelStyle criteria by either the actual styles assigned to the point, or by the Apparent style which is controlling the actual display of the point. Us ethe radio bottons along the bottom of the Selection Criteria panel to toggle between these options.

Once the Current Selection Criteria is how you want it, choose the Build Selection Set of Points button. At the lower left you will be shown the number of points matching the filter that were found. When you are happy with the selection, choose Apply to exit the command and the Selection Set will be created.

You also have the option to "invert" the selection by checking the Invert Selection box to the right of the Selection Criteria panel. This will select all items that do NOT match the Selection criteria. You may use as many, or as few, of the "Invert" checks as you want.

With drawings containing many points, the selection process may take some time. A progress meter is shown along the lower left of the dialog so you can visually verify that it is processing the points.

Some things to remember: All entries in a property will be used with an "OR" parameter (say you have PointStyles criteria of "Standard, Basic", then the filter will check if an style's name is a Standard OR if it is Basic, if it's either one it will be selected.    All entries of differing properties will be used with an "AND" parameter (say you have the aforementioned "Standard, Basic" Point STyle filter and you also specify an elevation range of 123-130, then a point will only be added IF it is either a style with the name "Standard" or "Basic" AND it also has an elevation falling within the specified range.
